    If you ask me I would say it looked good before you trimmed it. I liked the natural look before it was trimmed. I do't know anything about Bonsai rules so my opinion doesn't matter here. I just think it looked cool before cutting it up.

    This is a very therapeutic hobby. I have two different red acer pulmatums, a blood good and a crimson queen that I have been working with for a year now. They were both bought as 24" saplings. Wow how they have changed with trimming and being kept in a shallow pot over a year. I am looking forward to the next several years of shaping and spending time with these trees.

    thanks for this wonderful tip Dr. Milton 😊 I will keep this in my heart. let me share to you that I became fascinated and deeply in love with the Art of Bonsai from the moment I watched the Karate Kid 1 wherein the scene Mr. Miyagi (the late Pat Morita) taught Daniel who became his karate student his the basic of cutting or pruning of leaves of Japanese Juniper if I am not mistaken. That movie was shown several times in TV then the feeling of being in love with bonsai grew and grew within me much deeper until year 1999 ( i am 22 years old) I started to plant and I started with Boungeunvilla the red one which is I think the most common here in my country, Philippines. then I bought a book, Bonsai for Beginner so that I could understand more this art. from 1999 to 2004 I had 30 pieces all started from seeds and cuttings, all are in their first stage, establishing good roots and thickening of trunk. then the saddest part came on march 2004, we vacated the house my dad's company's temporary housing to their employee which accommodated until 60 years of age of the employee's retirement age, all are dead because I could no longer pay much attention to its needed care 😢 when.i brought them to our new home my dad's retirement house. I am 46 years of age now, I am returning to this passion , I loved most.... Bonsai ❤ I am praying that I will never leave this again 😊

    Hello there. I have around 7 orchids in my house one of which I have since 2016. They give me around 2 blooms annually. 4 of them are kept in water jars ( with 2 cm of water ) - I change that water weakly- this neat trick gave me a TON of new roots! ( orchids can be kept in water, provided you change that water ). As for the ice cube trick, that is a definite No No! The cold water will dmg the roots

I transferred it to its permanent home (pot) last May 2024 after 5 years and 11 months, so far it's growing great, new branches coming out 😊 I am from Philippines

    My cousin has 3 orchid plants. He does very well with them. One of them he got at CVS believe it or not. It's amazing with light yellow flowers with pinkish purple lines on them really cool specimen. He's always telling me orchid facts including that vanilla comes from a certain type of orchid. Also, be aware that some of the cheaper ones that have really bright flowers they spray with coloring to turn white flowers different colors that wont be there next time it blooms.Anyway I'll share this video with him, thank you Mr. Chang

    it really helps to repot them as soon as you buy it, they are typically potted in soil or moss that's too thick and orchids should be in something much more airy

    • @MiltonChang-ee6rq
      @MiltonChang-ee6rq 3 дні тому

      I wouldn't recommend that. The moss seem packed, but plenty air goes in when water evaporates. Using moss instead of bark is the reason what makes Orchid a successful business. so much easier to grow them commercially than bark.

    Talk about timing. Decided to try Orchids - again - after “years” of last failures with them. Found just like you indicate, it’s time and simple efforts to keep them going. I found once every week, sometimes every two weeks, thoroughly watering them, or soaking in a bucket has kept them alive. Flowers died, but inactive buds on stem starting to show promise of new flowering. I agree, many like aspects to bonsai tending. You have some beautiful orchids there in video.

    I really think the side you called the back should be the front so the hole in the trunk can be seen from the front. Do you find you tend to face most of your trees curving the same direction? It seems many bonsai artists do.
